Chilly Walks and Cheeky Zoomies: Our Winter Routine in Sydney ๐
Winter has fully arrived in Sydney. It was cold yesterday, and even colder the day before ๐ฌ But today? Itโs absolutely freezing ๐ฅถ and raining as well!! omg!!
Lately, it feels like the cold is breaking its own record every day. “Zero, are you cold too..? I amโฆ can we share the blanket, please?” And yet, no matter how cold it gets, the daily walk must go on!
Even when Zero is snuggled deep in the blankets, snoring away like a little piglet, the moment I say, โWanna go for a walk?โ He springs right up and bolts to the door.
Okay okay, I get itโgrab the ball and letโs go!
I usually get off work at 3 pm, and arrive home around 3:30 ~ 3:40 pm. After dropping my bag and changing into comfy clothes, itโs time for our walk.
Ever since I changed jobs, Zero now knows exactly when itโs time to head out! He even starts getting ready on his own. Such a smart pup ๐พ
Our Daily Walk Spot: The Gated Garden
On weekdays, we usually play in a gated garden in our apartment where off-leash play is allowed. Itโs not big but just enough for short strolls, so I throw the ball over and over for Zero to chase.
My speedy little athlete ๐จ
But sometimes (or letโs be honest, often๐คจ), he refuses to give the ball backโฆ
“Come on, Zero. I need the ball to throw it againโฆ please let go.” ๐
Still, he has a blast rolling around, especially after a bath (yes, this was after his shower yesterday ๐).
Zeroโs obsessed with tennis balls. Heโll sprint at full speed to fetch them, but every now and then heโll suddenly flop onto the floor with the ball still in his mouth then rolling around in pure joy. Then itโs nap timeโฆ then itโs zoomie timeโฆ sooo random dog. itโs a mystery only a French Bulldog can understand ๐ถ
Zoomie Time Activated!
Right after lying down like heโs done for the day, he suddenly takes off again with full energy. Running in circles, ears flopping, butt wiggling! Itโs one of the funniest and cutest things to witness.
If itโs not raining, we play here almost every day.
On some days, we head to a bigger off-leash park near North Strathfield Station. It doesnโt show up well on maps, but I managed to mark the general location.
๐ฝ
When my husbandโs off work, we take Zero there together.
Just look at that happy little butt ๐ Heโs already excited ๐
The park is spacious and even has training equipment for dogs. Itโs also a popular spot, so itโs great for building social skills with other pups.
But honestly, Zero doesnโt need other dogs to have fun. Heโs perfectly happy zooming around on his own.
Zero runs around with pure joy, but never forgets to pause for a quick potty break here and there. And every time he lifts his leg, I wonder how does he stretch it out so straight like that? Itโs kind of impressive!
When playing on dirt or grass, tennis balls get dirty fast. Thatโs where our tennis ball holder comes in handy. I bought it myself and love it!
You donโt have to touch the muddy ball. Just pop it into the silicone holder and carry it cleanly. Super practical and hygienic.

After a solid 20โ30 minute walk and play session, Zero always crashes hard back at home. Pure contentment. ๐ These daily walks are good for both of us and Zero gets his fun, and I get a bit of movement and fresh air too.
Next time, Iโll share another park we often visit on weekends. Itโs not far by car and has a totally different vibe.
