Chilly Walks and Cheeky Zoomies: Our Winter Routine in Sydney π
Winter has fully arrived in Sydney. It was cold yesterday, and even colder the day before π¬ But today? Itβs absolutely freezing π₯Ά and raining as well!! omg!!
Lately, it feels like the cold is breaking its own record every day. “Zero, are you cold too..? I amβ¦ can we share the blanket, please?” And yet, no matter how cold it gets, the daily walk must go on!
Even when Zero is snuggled deep in the blankets, snoring away like a little piglet, the moment I say, βWanna go for a walk?β He springs right up and bolts to the door.
Okay okay, I get itβgrab the ball and letβs go!
I usually get off work at 3 pm, and arrive home around 3:30 ~ 3:40 pm. After dropping my bag and changing into comfy clothes, itβs time for our walk.
Ever since I changed jobs, Zero now knows exactly when itβs time to head out! He even starts getting ready on his own. Such a smart pup πΎ
Our Daily Walk Spot: The Gated Garden
On weekdays, we usually play in a gated garden in our apartment where off-leash play is allowed. Itβs not big but just enough for short strolls, so I throw the ball over and over for Zero to chase.
My speedy little athlete π¨
But sometimes (or letβs be honest, oftenπ€¨), he refuses to give the ball backβ¦
“Come on, Zero. I need the ball to throw it againβ¦ please let go.” π
Still, he has a blast rolling around, especially after a bath (yes, this was after his shower yesterday π).
Zeroβs obsessed with tennis balls. Heβll sprint at full speed to fetch them, but every now and then heβll suddenly flop onto the floor with the ball still in his mouth then rolling around in pure joy. Then itβs nap timeβ¦ then itβs zoomie timeβ¦ sooo random dog. itβs a mystery only a French Bulldog can understand πΆ
Zoomie Time Activated!
Right after lying down like heβs done for the day, he suddenly takes off again with full energy. Running in circles, ears flopping, butt wiggling! Itβs one of the funniest and cutest things to witness.
If itβs not raining, we play here almost every day.
On some days, we head to a bigger off-leash park near North Strathfield Station. It doesnβt show up well on maps, but I managed to mark the general location.
π½
When my husbandβs off work, we take Zero there together.
Just look at that happy little butt π Heβs already excited π
The park is spacious and even has training equipment for dogs. Itβs also a popular spot, so itβs great for building social skills with other pups.
But honestly, Zero doesnβt need other dogs to have fun. Heβs perfectly happy zooming around on his own.
Zero runs around with pure joy, but never forgets to pause for a quick potty break here and there. And every time he lifts his leg, I wonder how does he stretch it out so straight like that? Itβs kind of impressive!
When playing on dirt or grass, tennis balls get dirty fast. Thatβs where our tennis ball holder comes in handy. I bought it myself and love it!
You donβt have to touch the muddy ball. Just pop it into the silicone holder and carry it cleanly. Super practical and hygienic.

After a solid 20β30 minute walk and play session, Zero always crashes hard back at home. Pure contentment. π These daily walks are good for both of us and Zero gets his fun, and I get a bit of movement and fresh air too.
Next time, Iβll share another park we often visit on weekends. Itβs not far by car and has a totally different vibe.
